stop publishing ur email address on internet

We should stop publishing our email addresses publicly. Nowdays, the spambots scan though various websites to get valid email addresses. Once they have the email addresses they just have to flood ur mailbox. Common cases in which we end up publishing our email address are:
  • when sending reply to some post on some forum
  • making our email address visible in various profiles
  • we leave email addresses on our html resume

But many times we need to give out our email address.there is a way out. instead of posting yourmailid@domain.com you could post youmailid[at]domain[dot]com. Or alternatively you could upload a gif image which contains your email address text. This was a layman solution to email information hiding.

Here is another little trick you can play. we have to make sure that our email address link works for humans but not for spambots! suppose you email address is yourmailid@domain.com and you wish to hide it from spambots. instead of writing the mail address as plaintext we can take advantage of html's capability to show ascii character using the ASCII character code. yourmailid@domain.com can be written as following

&#121our&#109ail&#105d
@d&#111mai&#110.co&#109

when you put the above text on the webpage it will translate into yourmailid@domain.com publishing our email address carefully on internet will definitely reduce the amount of spam mails being sent across the world. currently roughly 60% of the total mails sent in a day r spam mails.
